More Brits to travel to Poland for treatment abroad The number of patients travelling to Poland for private treatment is set to increase by ten to 20 per cent a year, according to forecasts.
Around three per cent of the 15.2 million tourists travelling to the country in 2006 were seeking private dentistry or medical treatment, figures show, and many of these visitors were from the UK.
According to the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (Paiz), British patients are increasingly realising that private dentistry and medical treatment is much cheaper in Poland, with savings of up to 60 per cent not out of the question.
Budget airlines also travel to the country, making the trip financially viable in every way.
Lukasz Liese, founding partner of Warsaw-based StatMedica, commented: "The standard of private healthcare in Poland is very high.
"The dentists and surgeons that we represent are highly qualified and have some of the highest standards in Europe."
Foreign visitors travelling to Poland in 2006 are estimated to have spent US$65 million (£33 million) on medical treatment alone.
